Smoking Bad
Why is Smoking Bad
Half of cancers could be prevented by lifestyle changes
The most comprehensive study into cancer in Britain has found that almost half of all cases could easily be avoided by simple lifestyle changes. Cancer Research UK say that more than 100000 cases each year are caused by just four lifestyle factors – smoking, bad diet, obesity and alcohol. Doctors say the findings are a “wake up call” to the Government – and have called on them to take stronger action on public health. Smoking is by far the biggest cause accounting for 23% of all cancers in men and 15% in women. For men, 6% of cancer cases were linked to not eating enough fruit and vegetables. Obesity accounts for nearly 7% of cancers in women.
